Actually Free-to-Use Stock Pics

Finding good images that you can actually freely use online has been nearly impossible… Especially if for commercial uses, sites like Shutterstock of Flickr, used heavily during school projects, are very cumbersome to use. However, thanks to ThisLittleAntithesis, I've been introduced to an all-new website, spun by Shutterstock!

Offset not only contains hundreds of stock photos, but they were taken by professional photographers. As the original article pointed out, a professional photo-shoot throws out so many good photos-- why not let the public use them? Although I personally feel like the artists could feel free to sue, seeing as they still technically own the images, I think that it is a swell idea, moving in the correct direction:

Sharing of culture. A common theme throughout this class has been how timid people feel in borrowing content-- is this okay? Can I get arrested for this? I wouldn't even know who to ask for rights of use for most online images, stock or otherwise.

I hope to see more projects such as Offset cropping up.
