Media Convergence: Miley Style

Our beloved internet is ever so entertaining, largely due ot the fact that it is everything. Really, though: books, newspapers, television, magazines, radio, you name it! It’s all a part of the internet. So, what happens when news hits the internet? Let’s take a look at Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” video:

A music video, right? So many spin-offs of her naked descent into madness ocurred. The most bizarre spin-off into internet culture was the photoshopping of Nicholas Cage’s face, but you don’t have to take my word for it! Follow the link to see a compilation of Wrecking Ball spoofs.

How is this media convergence? We took a normal music video (the normalcy is debatable, but I’ll hold my ground for now), and thrashed the music and video and news around on the internet until it became something of it’s own-- per fashion of the internet.
